Dante Murphy, Digitas Health
Dante is the Global Experience Director for Digitas Health, the health agency of Digitas and a global leader in digital and healthcare communications. His responsibilities include ideation, design, research, methodologies, and building a world-class multi-disciplinary design practice.
Dean Karavite, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)
Dean has nearly fifteen years experience at three major academic hospitals (Michigan, Temple and CHOP) in applying HCI methods to the design, development and implementation of healthcare information technology to support improvements in outcomes, safety, research, efficiency and costs while simultaneously improving the usability of these systems for clinicians, patients and families. Dean’s work has been applied to a number of clinical areas including cardiology, surgery, trauma, emergency, general pediatrics and neonatal follow up and he is a contributing author on over 25 peer-reviewed articles. He has also worked in HCI outside of healthcare including IBM’s User Centered Design Services and working as a consultant in developing assistive technology solutions for people with disabilities. Dean has a Masters in Information Science with a concentration in HCI from the University of Michigan, School of Information.
Marty DeAngelo, Digitas Health
As a VP/Director of Interaction Design, Marty is tasked with strategic and tactical planning and implementation across multiple brands. He has established expertise as an accessibility advocate, presenting “How the iPad Can Save Accessibility” at SxSW 2012. Currently, he is responsible for bringing user-center focus to projects through user research and interactive prototyping, as well as offering knowledge in mobile user experience.
Marty has almost 12 years of experience in internet marketing, and 16 years of programming, to his position at Digitas Health. He began creating freelance websites in 1996, eventually turning toward internet marketing as one of the original team members of the MBNA America internet marketing group, helping to establish their user experience discipline. Marty came to Digitas Health from GSI Commerce in King of Prussia, PA., where he focused on e-commerce websites.
Marty earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Pennsylvania State University, and counts photography, design and birding as his favorite pastimes.
Mike Zarro, Drexel University PhD Candidate
Michael Zarro is a Ph.D. Candidate at Drexel University’s College of Computing and Informatics where he investigates how people use online information resources as part of chronic disease self-management. His research interests include human-computer interaction, exploratory search, social media, and health informatics. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, Michael earned an MS in Library and Information Science at Drexel, and worked for over a decade in industry designing and building high profile, high traffic websites in areas like medical education and e-commerce.
Tina Bejian-Binnion, Digitas Health
At DH, Tina has been helping people navigate the complex and often confusing world of healthcare for over 10 years. As a UX director her mission and passion is to achieve understanding among her clients as well as their customers–patients and their network of support and care providers. When she’s not “fighting the good fight” through user centered design, Tina does meditative crochet and keeps her husband and two daughters out of trouble in her hometown of Lansdowne, PA.
