About the Presentation
A high performing team is fundamental when crafting meaningful human-centered solutions. It’s never been more important for Experience Design practitioners and managers to cultivate a culture in the work place that not only fosters creativity but also empowers collaborative teams to reach their fullest potential in the dynamic world of User Experience.

There’s a wealth of UX knowledge, resources and perspective that Vincent will share in this fast paced and stimulating presentation targeting the following questions:

  • How do we inspire, lead, and support our teams to drive high-impact solutions?
  • How do we know if it’s working?
  • What design and development tools, techniques and methodologies are unfolding in our industry to optimize but not stifle creativity and solving?
  • Where does User Experience practice meet Software Development? Marketing? IT? … And deliver results.

He’s conducted contextual inquiry in the bowels of the S&P building during Wall Street’s darkest days and crafted experience design solutions for the world’s most prestigious global management consulting firm. Video-on-demand: What Can Carl Sagan Teach Us About the Web? Mark Trammell

PhillyCHI  June 2010

Speaker: Mark Trammell

What Can Carl Sagan Teach Us About the Web?

2010 is the 30th anniversary of Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage.” Not only is his explanation of our universe relevant today, it can teach us a great deal about how to create better websites.

* What can Carl Sagan teach us about the Web?
* What can constellations tell us about Web analytics?
* What does man’s ancestry tell us about people choosing to interact via the Web?
* How does the evolution of the human brain affect a site’s brand?
* What can we learn from Heike crabs about how our users influence our designs?
* What does the deciphering of the rosetta stone tell us about people new to a website?
* How can the search for extraterrestrial life help us understand our users?
* How can the mating patterns of whales be used to help searchers?
* What parallels can be drawn between viruses and information architecture?
* What can the evolution of our solar system tell us about the future of our websites?
